What this job entails and where it is located

We are currently looking for a Senior DBA to fill a position at one of our major clients in the Dufferin / King Street area of Toronto.  This is a position that will expose you to an advanced Microsoft SQL Server environment. Duties will include implementation and monitoring of log shipping and replication, deploying changes to staging and production, process/job enhancements, database security maintenance, SQL installation and configuration, backups and recovery, optimization of databases and other database duties as they arrive.

All of the above will keep you busy at least 40 hours per week and maybe cause you to wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. 

Who we want

 We are a customer-oriented group and as such we want someone who is extremely friendly with a good sense of humour and the ability to take and receive wisecracks, jabs and other non-constructive remarks.  We are looking for a Microsoft Certified Database Administrator who is VERY comfortable (at least 5 years experience) in the SQL server environment and has at least 7 years of experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server products.  Experience in the following is essential:  Windows Server 2000/2003/2008, Visual Studio, SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 (including Integration, Reporting and Analysis Services), IIS and DNS. You will be working in close collaboration with Development and QA teams regarding the latest builds and deployments. You will be managing and maintaining several SQL Server environments. 

Application upgrades for large databases - ability to tune, troubleshoot and provide recommendations for upgrades tasks and processes Support for related volume and performance stress testing support, including stress reporting, performance tuning, and SQL reviews, developing and installing database maintenance trails. You have a proven track record in customer service and can work independently, as well as in a team environment.  You innate ability to manage your time effectively, maintain IT skills and, most importantly, maintain industry recognized certifications and anything else we decide to throw your way. You will be the team lead for the DBA group. Your communication, leadership and client management skills are nothing but the BEST.

We are presently experiencing a rapid growth in our company and require someone in this full time position immediately.
