We have a full time opportunity for an Information Management Consultant to work in the IS, Project Management Office.  Working in a team environment, this individual will provide subject matter expertise and support to corporate and program clients on Information Management (IM) development projects. Additional responsibilities include the following:

  • Support development and implementation of the corporate IM Strategy
  • Work with multidisciplinary project teams to address the information needs of the Programs and the organization through Sunnybrook's IM Architecture and Strategic Plan
  • Capture and document IM business requirements relating to the organizations strategic goals and objectives
  • Develop and maintain IM policies, supporting guidelines, standards and best practices
  • Provide subject matter expertise to IM projects and customers
  • Manage and execute IM data requests
  • Assess IM implications/impacts of business initiatives, e.g. proposed policies, programs, and projects
  • Facilitate and monitor IM handover to operations
  • Manage and coordinate information management issues including developing and implementing procedures for accurate and structured data management.
  • Communication and promotion of IM processes, standards and best practice
  • Provide support to global and local IM initiatives
  • Proactively identify and implement IM improvement opportunities and new IM technologies

This permanent full-time opportunity will report to the Program Manager for Information Management and work very closely with members of the Project Management Office, as well as the departments of Information Services, Decision Support and Health Data Resources. Close working relationships with the various clinical programs is also expected.

Skills and Qualifications:

A degree in Engineering and/or Information Management with a minimum of 5 years experience in the analysis of information systems architecture including the mapping of information flows, development of business processes, and specification of systems interfaces within a healthcare environment. The successful candidate must possess analytical problem-solving ability and be able to prioritize and manage competing deadlines. Experience developing and/or supporting corporate-wide strategic initiatives in health care organizations would be considered a strong asset.

Additional skills include:

  • Attention to detail, and the ability to translate business statistical concepts into the data / information realm
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff including senior leadership, physicians, patient service leaders, and various other internal/external client groups
  • Demonstrated commitment to personal growth and development
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and report writing skills using tools such as SQL, Cognos, and Crystal Reports
  • Technical knowledge of relational databases (Sybase, Oracle, MS SQL Server) and programming expertise with Microsoft SharePoint/PerformancePoint, Adobe Flex, ASP and/or ColdFusion would be beneficial
