Employee and Business Services – Information, Systems and Technology Services
Reporting to the Supervisor Systems Services, you will install, maintain, and administer the Region’s databases and database management system for all enterprise and program applications. You will also manage user access, database configuration, data integrity, documentation, data security and capacity for the databases; install, test, and implement vendor upgrades or patches and new releases to database environments and provides documentation as required to users outlining changes and/or new functionality.
As well, you will coordinate and execute physical database moves as part of server replacements and new server deployment projects as requested; translate logical data models into physical data models and configure database parameters for optimal performance; manage and maintain all production and non-production databases including user access and security rights based on documented standards and procedures and extract/distribute data in standard data and media formats using existing software tools in accordance with established procedures.
Success requires: a University or college graduate in computer science or related discipline with minimum 3 years Oracle and/or SQL Server experience in an Windows/Linux environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience • working knowledge of relational database management system software (Oracle, SQL Server) and Structured Query Language (SQL) • understanding of some of the following computer programming and scripting language People Tools, SQR, People Code, Visual Studio (C++, VB, C#, ASP.NET), Toad, Erwin, DB Scripting (PL_SQL, Transact SQL), Linux shell scripting • an ability to work independently and has the desire to learn and share knowledge with team members • strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and foster partnerships with clients, technical team, and management in an audience-friendly manner • certification in RDBMS (Oracle and/or SQL) is considered an asset.
Compensation: $57,933 - $72, 416 plus a comprehensive benefit package
Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Suite A in Brampton
Hours of work: 35 hours/week – Monday through Friday
