QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum of 1 years work experience in an application support, application development, database administrator role is required

· Degree or diploma in Computer Science from a recognized university or college is preferred

· MCITP: Database Administrator 2008 certification an asset

· Oracle Certified Associate certification an asset

· Strong understanding of database and data warehouse structures, theories, principles, and practices

· Strong understanding of, and experience with, server-client computing, relational database, and multi-dimensional database environments

· Working technical experience with configuring and supporting database servers, including Microsoft SQL Server, Integration Services, Analysis Services, and Reporting Services

· Good knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices

· Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience

· Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards, and products

· Knowledge of ITIL and COBIT processes and controls

· Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

· Able prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

· Strong customer service orientation

· Good knowledge of network and PC operating systems; current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including TCP/IP

· Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

· Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities

· Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

· Ability to learn new technologies

· Ability to work independently and/or in teams

· Strong verbal and written communication skills are a necessity. The understanding of when to email versus phone call versus have a face to face discussion is very important.

· Ability to communicate on a technical and non-technical level depending on the audience.

· Ability to read and interpret technical and non-technical documents.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Display understanding of Linamar Core Values

· Assist in the Development and administration strategies for the control and sharing of company database resources and services Ensure database backups are completing without errors and in a timely manner as outlined in 5.4.2 Data Backup Policy

· Design and aid in implementation of redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets

· Assist Senior DBA in Developing long-term goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers

· Perform database transaction and security audits

· Ensure SQL Server Integration Services are completing successfully and troubleshoot failed jobs where necessary.

· Ensure the stability and reliability of data access and data quality across the organization via on-going database support and maintenance

· Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues

· Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements

· Work with application development staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures

· Assist with the installation and configuration of relevant network components to ensure database access, consistency, and integrity

· Create and maintain effective system documentation

· Provide training as necessary with regards to the effective and efficient use of database tools and resources

· Look for ways to reduce costs and enhance productivity throughout Linamar, proposing any suggestions to management

· On-Call availability as outlined in the 11.1 IT On-Call Policy as amended

· Assist System Administrator team with Level 2 Active Directory account and group administration

· Assist System Administrator team install and configure servers in a windows environment

· Respond to Service Incidents as assigned within required SLA's

· Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned
