Database Marketing Analyst: Bell Mobility (12-month contract)

Bell Mobility is looking for a Database Marketing Analyst to support its cross-channel campaign management efforts.  The successful candidate will compliment an already established team.  The Campaign Data Analyst reports to a senior member of staff (e.g. Program Manager, Senior Analyst etc).

The objectives for the team are three fold:

  1. Profile prospects and predict the propensity to buy mobile phones
  2. Design marketing campaigns using “learning models" and track results. 
  3. Reveal and anticipate new emerging segments based on actual market evidence


Candidates will likely have previous roles similar to:

  • Predictive Modeling Analyst
  • Database Analyst
  • Campaign Data Analyst
  • Programmer Analyst
  • CRM Campaign Data Manager
  • Marketing Analyst
  • Data Architect


Job Duties/Accountabilities

  • Collect, analyze and organize confidential and strategic data with the high level of discretion
  • Use database marketing skills to interpret results , understand business implications and provide sales lists for acquisitions
  • Communicate with functional areas and business units
    • Collects, synthesizes and documents reporting and analysis requirements
    • Builds and maintains reports in business intelligence tools
    • Performs ad hoc queries and analysis to support business decisions
    • Blend online data with transactional data
    • Works with team members on analyses and predictive modeling to support marketing and lead management decisions
    • Interprets campaign results and benchmarks metrics to similar previous campaigns
    • Participates in planning, forecasting and month-end reporting activities

Critical Qualifications/Competencies

  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • Proficient in data mining and data warehousing.  Proven experience in multi-platform environment (e.g. SAS, SQL)
  • Strong programming skills in SAS, SQL, SQL server database.
  • Take initiative to obtain required data outside of the department in order to complete project
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office (Excel pivot tables, Excel Macros, PowerPoint)
  • Good spoken & written communication skills. Can both appreciate ambiguous requirements as well as deliver insight in a business friendly manner.  Knows how to get to the punch line.

Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:
We understand that it is unlikely that a candidate will have all of the below.

  • Working knowledge of cross channel campaign management tools
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods and predictive analytics.  Examples include but are not limited to regression analysis, clustering, probability / predictive models for acquisition campaigns
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence environments.  From both a technical and business imperative perspective
  • Telecommunications experience
  • Preferred but not required exposure to one or more of the following technical areas: GIS, location intelligence, spatial analysis, data management, analytics, Java, computer and server components and assembly, workstation design)
  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g Computer science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Business, etc)
