Position: Senior Database Administrator
12 month contract opportunity
The Senior Database Administrator will mainly provide support of AEGON Canada database systems (IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL). This includes database development, management, problem analysis, installation, upgrade implementation. Overall planning and applying new features and technology for database system and manage future growth. Strong forward thinking technical skill, team coordination and project management skills are mandatory to ensure the on time delivery of various projects and tasks
. Provide professional customer service to support the business and IT which includes contributing to the improvement of cross functional communication and team synergies
. Leadership in providing future database technology and database management tools
. Identifies opportunities for improving existing processes and new solutions. Builds and documents process improvements and solutions.
. "Energize The Base" in an efficient and effective manner including all assigned incidents and problems are responded to and resolved.
. Proactively monitor database system health and Capacity, maintaining database system effectively and efficiently for optimized performance, support database applications
. Compliance/Regulatory and Governance - Participate in all regulatory initiatives (SOX, ISAP, DRP).
. Act as senior technical resource for areas of responsibility.
Qualifications and Technical Experience:
. Post Secondary degree - Computer Science or equivalent work experience
. 5 + years of experience within Information Technology in designing, deploying and administering Database Management System includes MS SQL
. Working experience with Windows and Solaris platform
. Working experience with MS SQL Reporting Service
. Knowledge of virtualization, NetApp storage management for database application
. Knowledge of disaster recovery planning for database management system.
. Knowledge of database application systems in financial industry
. Microsoft BizTalk
. Microsoft Sharepoint
. MS .Net application
. IBM Websphere
