The EA Sports Online division is responsible for EASportsworld.com, which is a unique, persistent, multi-platform opportunity to become the center of your own online sport play experience; participate into challenges, earn rewards and grow your sports’ communities while constantly improving your stats.
With strong systems engineering background and proven database administration experience, the Operations DBA will set up, configure, modify and monitor production database clusters in Linux environment.
•Reporting to the Development Director of the Sports Online Operations team and working closely with IT, set up, configure, modify and monitor test and production databases and database clusters in a Linux environment.
•Create secure, scalable and reliable databases using appropriate tools and hand-written SQL code.
•Analyze requirements and work with Development on creating optimal logical and physical data models.
•Tune SQL queries, create indexes and database settings to optimize resource utilization.
•Create rules; write stored procedures and triggers as needed.
•Implement and monitor data replication, backups and restores.
•Write and modify Linux shell scripts and monitor OS performance to optimize database OS environment.
•Provide database support to software developers.
•Assist in creating of database programming standards for application developers.
•Perform occasional SQL code releases in conjunction with the release of application code by the Release Management team.
•Create and maintain the database disaster recovery procedures.
•Provide 24/7 incident response to database alerts from production monitoring tools.
Required Technical Skills and Experience
•B.Sc. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience.
•A minimum of 5 years DBA experience mostly with Oracle and MySQL supporting large Web sites. Additional Postgresql and MS SQL Server experience desired.
•Excellent knowledge of database technologies including SQL, PL/SQL, data modeling and database design.
•Knowledge of programming languages is desired; C/C++ and Java preferred.
•Knowledge of Linux system administration is expected, Windows server administration knowledge would be a plus.
•General understanding of Web servers and protocols.
•Basic knowledge of security and cryptography, single sign-on and LDAP directory services.
•Experience with source code management: CVS, Subversion, Git and/or Perforce.
