Position Summary:
Working with internal stakeholders and external vendors, the Database Administration team is accountable for providing database administration services and operating database servers at an enterprise level. Reporting to the Lead Database Administrator, the Database Administrator will encompass facets of performance monitoring, production change control, database release management, database security and database disaster recovery. He/she must have strong communication skills and work well within a team environment, providing technology based recommendations on future direction of the firm’s information technology infrastructure.

  • Monitor all uptime and performance of databases used by CCS
  • Identify and recommend database tools and services along with the necessary processes to monitor, protect and back-up databases 
  • Performance reporting and tuning of the databases to ensure optimal usage
  • Perform capacity planning and replication of the appropriate databases
  • Ensure that issues with database servers are resolved in a timely manner
  • Reduce chronic outages through first the identification secondly through root cause analysis
  • Evolve the database practices and methodology
  • Recommend new database administration technologies, hardware and software that will create value for CCS
  • Be available to assist IT projects as a subject matter expert and reference for new designs and implementations and technologies
  • Manage the implementation of database initiatives
  • Assist the architecture teams in new designs and as a subject matter expert in database systems


  • University degree or college diploma in the field of Computer Science or related technical experience with diploma/degree
  • 5+ years direct work experience in a database administrator role
  • Technologies Experience: MS SQL Server, Linux, Windows, SQL, Data Warehouse and n-tier application models
  • Proficiency in MS SQL backup and recovery techniques
  • Ability to perform complex, conceptual and logical data modeling
  • Ability to design, implement and support large database implementations


  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and analyzing database policies and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Highly self motivated and directed and keen attention to detail
  • Proven analytical and problem solving capabilities
  • Work effectively in situations involving rapid change, shifting priorities and multiple projects
