PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
As a Product Group Database Administrator for Business Objects, you will be part of an international team based in Vancouver, Paris, Bangalore, Ealing and San Jose. Your experience as a DBA will help prepare you for a challenging future that utilizes your comprehensive knowledge of databases.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
Beyond daily DBA duties you will be required to support of all major database vendors in a research & development environment.
Installation and support for all major database vendors in an R&D context
Provide data migration, transformation, backup & recovery, performance and tuning and other services to support development, QA and testers world wide
Develop processes, procedures, and jobs to monitor and/or automate tasks required to maintain databases
Support of database tools used in database administration
Develop and communicate database performance metrics
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of at least 2 major database vendors (MS SQL, Oracle, DB2, Sybase, Informix,Teradata etc)
Client, server and connection based troubleshooting on a wide variety platforms.
Ability to perform advanced database activities such as client and server based connection traces aswell as experience using other database profiling tools
Strong knowledge of database concepts (eg views, indexes, stored procedures etc).
Broad knowledge of relational database management systems and ability to work with avariety of database schemas
Experience in physical and logical modeling of database applications
Ability to program/script to help automate many common/repetitive duties.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Windows 2000/2003, Linux or other Unix Operating system
Requires candidates to currently be enrolled in an undergraduate, Masters, MBAor PhD degree program which is applicable to the position.
Previous co-op/internship epxerience a plus
