BroadbandTV is a media & technology company developing distribution and monetization opportunities for video content producers, aggregators and distributors around the world. What does that mean to you? Simple: we play with fun toys. From deep C++ implementations of novel machine vision algorithms to implementing machine learning and game theory applications over large scale data warehouses... we have something for everyone.

BBTV is looking for a special multi-skilled database architect and administrator to lead the design and development of BBTV's content discovery and classification database systems. Working closely with application architects and academics, the chosen candidate will have many opportunities to grow within this role.

Duties:
•   Based on original research in video signal processing algorithms, the chosen candidate will lead the design and implementation of database systems that capture and exploit information produced by these novel algorithms, including applications to social networking and gaming.
•   Contribute to the design and implementation of the system deployment architecture over cloud computing environments such as Amazon Web Services.
•   Help shape engineering team's practice of agile development methodologies.
•   Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.

Essential Skills:
•   Solid experience defining data models and designing related physical database structures using either relational or dimensional styles. Similar strength of background in database implementation and development. (5+ years)
•   Experience implementing multiple database profiles from OLTP through to complete data warehouse and related business intelligence support.
•   Experience working in object/relational paradigms with examples of design tools and techniques.
•   Implementation experience on UNIX/Linux platforms.
•   Experience designing and implementing stored procedures and triggers.
•   Database experience with PostgreSQL, mySQL and/or Oracle.
•   Education and experience with algorithm analysis, optimization and determining computational complexity.
•   Analytical skills related to designing systems for performance, scalability, and high-availability.
•   Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies and extreme programming concepts, especially test-first development.
•   Comfortable with multi-tasking and meeting project deadlines, working individually and as part of larger development teams.

The following skills and experience are a plus:
•   Experience using JIRA Studio or any products related to Atlassian systems.
•   Experience working with systems related to digital media (video or audio.)
•   Perl, Python and Bash scripting experience.
•   Experience working Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other equivalent cloud computing environments.
•   Experience with designing and implementing NoSQL (non-relational) databases for use with extremely large data sets found in social networking applications. (BIG bonus points...)
•   Experience implementing BI/reporting systems with Pentaho products. (EXTRA BIG bonus points...)

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or advanced technical diploma in computer science, computer engineering, and/or mathematics.
