An exciting opportunity to employ your abilities as a Database Administrator in the Natural Resource Sector
As Database Administrator in the Information Management Branch, you are responsible for planning, designing, developing and managing the spatial and attribute database environments for the Natural Resource Ministries. Working in a dynamic and challenging environment, you maintain a high availability of services in an efficient and cost effective manner within a technically complex and multi-tiered corporate infrastructure. An effective communicator, you interact with a wide variety of interested parties on infrastructure projects, procurement initiatives and project delivery services. If you possess extensive knowledge of the platforms, application software and technologies used to build and deploy complex, interconnected systems, we look forward to your application.

To be considered for this position your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have the following:
- Degree in computer science or related discipline and three years related experience. Please reference job description for equivalencies.
- Experience with Oracle database administration (on Unix).
- Experience with SQL Server database Administration.
- Diagnosing and resolving problems related to databases, tools, connectivity products and host operating systems.
- Knowledge of relational database systems, Structured Query Language, relational data modelling and data management principles, structured analysis and design, and documentation of business requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to provide off hours support as required.
- Preference may be given to those applicants with experience in the following:
- Oracle 10g/11g
- Oracle Spatial
- ESRI ArcSDE
- Solaris and Windows operating systems
- Oracle Data Replication
- Oracle OID/LDAP
