(Systems Analyst I)

SAIT Polytechnic Information Systems department supports the installation, development and maintenance of computers, applications and communication infrastructure for the Institute.
The Information Systems department has an opening for a part time Database Analyst. The Database Analyst will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, tuning, upgrading and administering Oracle and SQL Server database environments within our department. The position works closely with a team of systems analysts, users and developers and reports to the Oracle Database Administrator.
This is a part time position of 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with benefits.
• Monitor, administer, upgrade, and tune several Oracle and SQL Server database environments
• Provide troubleshooting expertise to analysts
• Assist in developing operational, development, performance and recoverability standards
• Provide and implement recommendations regarding the database environments
• Document systems architecture as well as systems operating and administrative procedures
• Perform basic troubleshooting and liaise with analysts, SAIT, Oracle and other technical support when supervisor is absent
This position occasionally requires work in non-standard hours on an instance by instance basis.
Applicants will possess a post secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science Technology and 2 -3 years experience with Linux, Oracle, Windows and SQL Server databases. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Experience with the development and operations of an n-tier solution is also required. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with all aspects of the systems development life cycle and hands-on experience with a structured solutions delivery methodology. Oracle Grid Control Enterprise Manager experience and an Oracle Certified Associate designation would be considered an asset.
